Privacy policy

This page is the privacy policy for GeoColour. It explains how we handle personal information for the website and the GeoColour apps on iOS and Android. It is written in plain language and is not legal advice.

The website and the apps are separate. Website behaviour is covered in the website section below. App behaviour is covered in the apps section.

Website

The GeoColour website at geocolour.app is a static marketing site. It does not require an account and does not currently collect email addresses through a signup or notification form.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical request data as part of delivering and securing the website, as described in Cloudflare’s own documentation and privacy materials.

The website uses Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics and, when you consent, advertising tags. Google Analytics is used to understand how people use the site. Google may collect information such as pages viewed, referring website, approximate location derived from IP address, and browser or device type. This information is processed by Google as described in Google’s privacy policy and Google Analytics’ data practices. GeoColour uses it to improve the website. These analytics apply to the website only, not the iOS or Android apps.

If GeoColour runs advertising, including in the EU and UK, Google Ads may also receive measurement signals so we can understand whether an ad led someone to this website. That can include advertising cookies and identifiers when you consent to advertising cookies.

If you previously joined the pre-launch notification list, you can request deletion of that email address at any time by contacting [email protected].

Cookies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies in three groups:

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see a cookie prompt. Analytics and advertising cookies stay off there until you choose Accept. Reject keeps them off. Google tags then run in a limited, cookieless mode so we can still see modelled totals without storing advertising or analytics cookies on your device.

Visitors in other countries do not see that prompt. Analytics cookies are used automatically. Advertising cookies stay off until you opt in with the Cookies link.

You can change your choice at any time with the Cookies link in the footer. For visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, consent is the basis for analytics and advertising cookies.

Google may process this information on servers outside Australia, the EU and the UK, including in the United States, as described in Google’s privacy policy.

Your rights

You can ask GeoColour for access to personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. If you consented to cookies, you can withdraw that consent with the Cookies link. Email [email protected].

GeoColour apps (iOS and Android)

This section applies to the GeoColour app on iPhone (iOS) and Android.

The apps do not require users to create an account. There are no in-app purchases, advertising, usage analytics, crash reporting or third-party tracking technologies.

The current versions of the apps do not collect, store on our servers, or transmit personal information, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, location, contacts, photos, microphone audio or other personal or sensitive user data. They do not request those permissions.

Munsell colour data is bundled with the app. Searches, palette selections and other app interactions are processed locally on the user’s device and are not transmitted to GeoColour.

GeoColour does not receive information about the colours users view, search for or select.

The apps store a small amount of non-personal state on the device (the last selected palette and colour) so the app can reopen where you left off. This stays on the device. Uninstalling the app deletes it. If the device’s own backup feature is enabled, that local state may be included in the user’s backup; GeoColour does not receive it.

Colour browsing and search work without an internet connection. Opening the website or this privacy policy, or sending a support email, uses the device’s browser or mail app only when the user chooses to.

If a user contacts GeoColour for support, they voluntarily provide the information included in their email or support request. This information will only be used to respond to the request, investigate the reported issue and improve the service where appropriate. We do not sell it or share it with third parties for advertising.

The GeoColour website is separate from the apps. Information handled through the website remains subject to the website section of this privacy policy.

If future versions of the apps introduce analytics, accounts, cloud synchronisation, crash reporting or other network-based features, this privacy policy will be updated before or when those features are introduced.

Data retention and deletion

The apps do not offer accounts, so there is no account to delete. Local app state is removed when the app is uninstalled.

Support emails and any remaining pre-launch notification addresses are kept only as long as needed to handle the request or as required by law. You can ask us to delete personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected].

Website analytics and advertising measurement, when you consent, are processed by Google as described in the website and cookies sections. You can withdraw cookie consent with the Cookies link.

Updates to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
